PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine protective device capable of inspecting the ignition timing in a short time with excellent workability, without removing a protective cover, while protecting a crank pulley and a belt wound on the crank pulley by the protective cover. SOLUTION: This protective device of an engine 1 is formed by covering the crank pulley 18 of the engine 1 of winding the belt for driving auxiliary machines on the crank pulley 2 by binding the crank pulley 18 of forming an injection timing inspecting timing mark M in an outer peripheral part to an end part of a crankshaft 2, and a part of the belt, with the protective cover 23. The protective cover 23 is formed with an opening part 23d for visually observing the timing mark M from the outside, and an index 23e collated with the timing mark M when adjusting the ignition timing, is projected in a position facing the opening part 23d of an inner surface of the protective cover 23.
