A golf club head 800 is provided comprising a golf club head housing 801 including a hollow portion having a cavity 870 or compartment. A lid 871 can be inserted into the cavity 870, preferably to dampen a frequency response of walls of the hollow portion 870. The lid 871 comprises an outer portion 872 and an interior portion 876. The lid 871 is coupled to the cavity 870 such that the outer portion 872 of the lid 871 forms an exterior part of the golf club head 800 with the inner portion 876 extending into the cavity 870. The golf club head 800 further comprises sight cues 324, 326 to assist a golfer to align the golf club head 800 with a golf ball. A material 874 may be inserted between the inner 876 and outer portions 872 of the lid 871 as the lid 871 is coupled to the aperture, preferably so that the material 874 contacts the inner surface of the compartment 873 and is compressed. The material 874 is preferably a polymer. In another embodiment, the outer portion is a striking or face plate of a golf club head and the inner portion extends into a compartment formed in the golf club head (Fig 1). |
