An apparatus for the manufacture of a liquid fertiliser from compost, also known as compost tea, comprises a lightweight plastic water-holding barrel 2 and a biodegradable compost filter bag 3. The filter bag 3 has a pyramidal shape when filled with compost and closed by pulling a draw cord. The filter bag 3 is suspended by its draw cord within the barrel via a suspension rod 1 which is attached across the top opening of the water-holding barrel. An aerating plate is attached to the suspension rod and may be used to stir and oxygenate the water. The water-holding barrel has a tap, which allows for the collecting of liquid fertilizer (compost tea) when processed. A net covers the barrel opening when the plastic lid of the barrel is removed to collect rainwater. After the compost tea has been brewed, the filter bag may be recycled by digging into the soil along with the used compost. |
