<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide genes functioning in the development and differentiation of a mammalian immune system and/or the control of physiological function. <P>SOLUTION: The nucleic acid encoding various monocyte proteins derived from primates, reagents related to the same (including specific antibodies) and purified proteins are described. The method for using the reagents and a related diagnostic kit are also provided. The disclosure aims at a composition associated with the genes found in the monocyte which is a cell functioning in an immune system. These genes function in the development and differentiation of the mammalian immune system, and/or the control of the physiological functions.
