PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely performing the pull-in of focus control, in focus control for a flexible optical disk. SOLUTION: A stabilizing member 6 is brought close to an optical disk 1 by a first stabilizing member positioning part 12. A gap Cbd between the optical disk 1 and the stabilizing member 6 is set to a value which generates a disk surface wobbling of 10 to 100μm as a first operation control mode. An optical beam L is emitted from an optical pickup 4, and an objective lens 5 is brought close to the optical disk 1 to detect a focus error signal. In this state, an S-curve is clearly generated in the focus error signal because of large disk surface wobbling. Based on this S-curve, focus servo pull-in is started by a focus servo pull-in part 11, and a focus servo operation of an optical spot S on the optical disk 1 is performed by a focus servo part 10.
