摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device, in which the rise time from power-on to a normal display state of OCB (optically compensated birefringence) mode LCD can be shortened to be equal to that of TN(twisted nematic) mode LCD. SOLUTION: In the OCB mode liquid crystal display device, either one or both of the following means (1) and (2) are adapted. (1) An alignment holding voltage source 11 for continuously applying a voltage near a critical voltage V<SB>cr</SB>of spray-bend transition to a resting liquid crystal cell 1 is provided.
