PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting the existence of failure of a temperature sensor. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus (a sublimation type printer 100) is equipped with an apparatus main body containing an imaging part, an environmental temperature sensor 31 for detecting an environmental temperature being an atmospheric temperature in the apparatus main body, a flash memory 22f for storing the past environmental temperature detected by the environmental temperature sensor 31, and a controlling part 22a for determining the existence of the failure of the environmental temperature sensor 31 based on the past environmental temperature stored in at least the flash memory 22f and the present environmental temperature.
