1295655 Vapour generators BABCOCK & WILCOX CO 10 Dec 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 60346/69 Heading F4A A vapour generator, in particular for steam, comprises a pressure vessel 11 containing tubes 17 through which flows a heating fluid, e.g. coolant from a nuclear reactor, and an economizer chamber 22 supplied with feedwater through conduits 23, the chamber 22 having a riser passage 40 constituted by a duct 30 and communicating with a space 38, there being provided an annular passage 35 which communicates with both the space 38 and with the riser duct 30 through a flow space 39. Primary heating fluid enters a conduit 19 to heat the feedwater rising in a sinuous path through the chamber 22 due to annular disc baffles 32, 33 which have holes 34 for the passage of tubes 17. The primary fluid discharges through a conduit 21. In the space 38, water and steam separate, the steam rising through a space 36 defined by a baffle 28 to outlets 27, while the feedwater passes to the riser duct 30 wherein it is heated to promote circulation, via the passage 35 and space 39. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the economizer chamber (22<SP>1</SP>) has four parallel, vertical, horizontally spaced riser ducts (41A-41D). |
