Automatic de-icing systems for a refrigerator comprises two parallel connected electric circuits, one of which incorporates the pump motor of the cooling unit and an adjoining thermostat, and the other a de-icing resistance with a safety thermostat connected in series. The circuits can be connected in turn by means of a time connector with two positions which is so arranged that the pump motor circuit is connected during the greatest time yet is regularly disconnected, and the resistance is connected during a time shorter than the connecting time of the pump motor.
