The brake device (1) has a wedge-shaped body (5.1) movably mounted in direction, and another body e.g. brake pad (3.1), movably mounted in another direction that is perpendicular to the former direction. The two bodies are shifted by a shifting device such that a braking action is controlled and/or a brake application is initiated. The two bodies are mounted such that the body (3.1) is shifted by the shifting of the body (5.1) to prevent unhindered rotation of a brake disk (2) in a voltage-free and failure condition of a power supply.
