Active matrix organic displays

A common bank layer 30 is provided for the organic thin film transistors (TFTs) and the organic light emitting device (OLED) pixels which defines two sets of wells. A first set of wells contain the organic semiconducting material of the organic thin film transistors of the active matrix. The second set of wells contains organic optically active material of the OLED pixels. Isolator structures 32 are formed on the common bank structures to separate the cathode electrodes which are fabricated by subsequent blanket deposition of the cathode electrode material over the isolator structures which ensures the OLED devices and the TFTs are electrically isolated.
