An AV system for vehicle and a map disc defect inspection method thereof are provided to compare defect information stored in a built-in memory with map information downloaded, thereby searching correct map information even when there is a defect on the map information downloaded to the built-in memory from a map disk. The AV(Audio/Video) system for vehicle comprises a disk loading unit(120), a controller(100), and a display unit(110). The disk loading unit loads a map disk(150). The controller reads map information within a map disk loaded on the disk loading unit. When there is a defect in the map information, the controller stores the defect information. And the controller determines whether the stored defect information coincides with the defect information of the downloaded map when there is a request of map download to a memory(130) in the disk loading unit. The display unit outputs the map information stored in the memory under the control of the controller. |
