The invention relates to a tool (80) for positioning a rear skirt, comprising a movable frame (81) and a geometric conformation gauge (100), said movable frame (81) being intended to support at least one geometric conformation gauge (100) capable of holding a rear skirt made of a specific sheet metal. According to the invention, the movable frame (81) and the gauge (100) each have a complementary standardized securing device for removably securing the gauge to the frame, this device being designed to allow a precise and repeatable positioning of the gauge with respect to the frame and a transmission to the frame of the forces to which the gauge is exposed, the movable frame also having sufficient rigidity to withstand these forces without deformation.
