A lighting device having user adjustable intensity control, said lighting device comprising: a housing; a light source for generating a light beam; a power source for providing power to the light source; a user actuatable switch that is actuatable by a user to turn the light source on and off and to further adjust intensity of the light beam; and control circuitry for controlling activation and adjustment of intensity of the light beam in response to user actuation of the switch, wherein the control circuitry cyclically switches among a plurality of intensity levels to adjust intensity of the light beam based on user actuation of the switch.
