STILBENEDISULFONIC ACID DERIVATIVES AS INHIBITORS OF RETROVIRAL INTEGRASE

The present invention provides a class of novel stilbenedisulfonic acid derivatives. These compounds have the activity as inhibitors of retroviral integrase, an essential enzyme for the proliferation of retroviruses such as HIV-1. Also described in this application are pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one of the stilbenedisulfonic acid derivatives and a method of using the stilbenedisulfonic acid derivatives to inhibit retroviral proliferation. In addition, this application provides a new method for identifying compounds that inhibits retrovirus integrase activity.
