METHOD OF REMOVING RESIDUAL PIG IRON FROM BLAST FURNACE

A method of removing residual pig iron (1) from a blast furnace, comprising, in a relining of blast furnace, dividing solidified residual pig iron (1) remaining on the furnace bottom and taking out the resultant residual pig iron blocks (9) from the furnace to thereby effect removal thereof, wherein the residual pig iron (1) is chopped with the use of a wire saw (25) into large intermediate residual pig iron blocks (8), further divided by explosive blasting into residual pig iron blocks (9) and taken out from the furnace. Accordingly, individual blasting scale can be reduced while sustaining blasting efficiency, and assured removing of residual pig iron within a short period of time can be attained as compared with the conventional method of removing residual pig iron through dividing into small pieces by blasting only.
