Disclosed is a method for protecting a non-human mammalian embryo from embryotoxic effects of prostaglandin F2alpha comprising exposing an embryo on which a prostaglandin F2alpha receptor is present to a chemical compound that is a prostaglandin F2alpha receptor antagonist in an amount and for a time sufficient to protect the embryo from the embryotoxic effects of prostaglandin F2alpha.
