Disclosed is a memory card made by bending a printed circuit board into a box-shaped housing defining a partially enclosed interior space. Inside the circuit board is a control chip, which can be selectively configured to one of several application functions. Connected to the control chip is a memory chip, inside the box, configured to store data, and on the surface a contact pad to connect the memory card to a host device. A converting member is located outside the box and is connected to the control chip. The converting member is designed to transmit an external input to the control chip to change the application function of the control chip and the interfacing function of the contact pad. The control chip by be a single chip that is converted or may be a plurality of chips with one being selected by the converting member. The converting member may be a switch, a circuit, a fuse or a jumper. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing the memory card and a method of operating the card. |
