A plasma display panel (10) comprises a first substrate (FS) and a second substrate (RS) between which a plurality of cells (DS) for emitting light by discharge are formed. On the surface of the first substrate, a plurality of first electrodes (XE) and second electrodes (YE), a first dielectric layer (DL1), a plurality of address electrodes (AE), a second dielectric layer (DL2), and a protective layer (PL) are sequentially stacked. On the second substrate, a first barrier (BR1) and a second barrier (BR2) are integrated with the second substrate and, in the inner surfaces of the cells surrounded by the first and second barriers, phosphor layers (PHr, PHg, PHb) are formed. The first barrier is located in the position facing the address electrodes. In the positions between the mutually adjacent address electrodes, grooves (GR) extending in the same direction as the address electrodes are formed. Discharge gas is filled after the first and second substrates are joined to each other by means of a seal material placed outside of the ends of the grooves. The use of the grooves as emission paths provides excellent emission efficiency.
|
