By using route calculation information, a navigation device searches for a navigation route from a start point to a destination inputted by a user and transmits to a server, information on the navigation route and search result information including the starting point and the destination. According to the acquired search result information and road traffic information held in advance, the server searches for a server route from the starting point to the destination. Furthermore, the server selects the sever route or the navigation route. If the selected route is the server route, the server route information is transmitted to the navigation device. Thus, the navigation device can guide a vehicle by using an appropriate route selected by the server.
