In a signal transmission method, a LAN signal from a client device on a transmitting side is multiplexed in a multiplexed signal by a transmitter apparatus on the transmitting side, then transmitted through an optical synchronization network to a transmitter apparatus on a receiving side, then separated from the multiplexed signal received by the transmitter apparatus on the receiving side and then transmitted to a client device on the receiving side. In this signal transmission method, clock information of the LAN signal detected by the transmitter apparatus on the transmitting side is written into the overhead of the multiplexed signal and then transmitted. The transmitter apparatus on the receiving side then reads the clock information of the LAN signal from the overhead of the multiplexed signal. The transmission rate is modified based on the read clock information, and the LAN signal separated from the multiplexed signal is then transmitted to the client device on the receiving side.
