<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the controllability in an inverter apparatus which detects a phase current by a current sensor arranged between itself and a DC power source. <P>SOLUTION: It is equipped with an inverter circuit, a current sensor which detects the current between the DC power source and the inverter circuit, and a control circuit which outputs an AC current to a motor by PWM modulation in the inverter circuit. The control circuit performs control of detecting a phase current by the current sensor, with a timing close to the end of the ON-period of an upper arm switching element in a carrier cycle.
