The pin (1) has a divided joint housing provided with an integrated plastic storage, where the pin is formed as a hollow pin and made of solid material. A surface is coated with thermoplastic polymer having high-quality tribological characteristics, in a positive manner, where the surface is produced by chemical, physical and/or mechanical treatment. A surface with increased roughness is provided within a region of a joint ball (2) or within a region of the ball and a pin neck (3). A positive plastic coating (4) completely encloses the joint ball and the pin neck. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a pivot pin made of metal.
