A method and an apparatus for generating TSC(Training Sequence Codes) in a communication system are provided to apply a TSC to a 16-QAM(Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) and a 32-QAM extendedly employed for a GERAN(GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication)/EDGE(Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution)) RAN(Radio Access Network). A sequence 'A' and a sequence 'B', a pair of sequences having non-periodical autocorrelation characteristics, are generated. The last 'L' number of symbols of the sequence 'A' are duplicated to generate a protection sequence 'A'', and the last 'L' number of symbols of the sequence 'B' are duplicated to generate a protection sequence 'B''. Optimization is performed by evaluating degradation of an SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) of TSC candidates to search TSCs as many as required and store them. |
