A backlight unit is provided to prevent light from progressing to an edge portion of a prism sheet, thereby solving the problem of hot spot generated on a screen of an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display). A backlight unit comprises a light-guiding plate(203), a prism sheet(209), a diffuser sheet(212), a light-shielding tape(206), and LEDs(Light-Emitting Diodes)(215). The light-guiding plate is disposed on a rear surface of an LCD panel. The diffuser sheet is installed above the light-guiding plate to diffuse light. The prism sheet is formed above the diffuser sheet to enhance the frontal brightness of light transmitted and reflected by the diffuser. The light-shielding tape is formed above the prism sheet to prevent light from moving to an edge portion of the prism sheet. Herein, the light-shielding tape wraps the edge portion of the LED, where the light of the prism sheet is diffusively reflected. |
