<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ophthalmic composition capable of exhibiting excellent preserving and antibacterial effects even by containing an oil component. <P>SOLUTION: This emulsion type ophthalmic composition is obtained by containing inorganic salts and the oil component, forming oil in water type emulsion by a nonionic surfactant and adding chlorhexidine or its salt as a preservative.
