<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a variable valve train, which suitably determines the state where a detected valve characteristic shifts from an actual value. <P>SOLUTION: When engine rotation speed NE is equal to or higher than a determined value A (S300: YES) and voltage reduction occurs in the control device of a motor driving the variable valve train (S310: YES), an instantaneous counter C is updated (S320). When a target valve characteristic has been varied just before the occurrence of voltage reduction (S330: YES), a second shift determination value Zb set at a value smaller than a first shift determination value Za is set as a shift determination value Z (S350).
