<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose an array substrate for minimizing a light-blocking area formed at a periphery, and a display panel having the same. <P>SOLUTION: An array substrate includes a base substrate, gate lines, data lines, pixel portions and a gate driving section. The base substrate is sectioned into a display area, a boundary area surrounding the display area and the light-blocking area surrounding the outline of the boundary area. The gate lines extend in a first direction on the base substrate. The data lines extend in a second direction crossing the first direction on the base substrate. The pixel portions are disposed in the display area and electrically connected to the gate and data lines. The gate driving section is electrically connected to the gate lines and is formed so as to overlap the boundary area.
