<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to set a 3D area of interest for evaluating a desired objective area with high reproducibility. <P>SOLUTION: A 3D image reconstructed is obtained from the image data photographed by a medical image photographing device, and a specific tissue is extracted from the obtained 3D image as a 3D reference area. A characteristic amount being the character relating to the shape or the concentration of the extracted reference area is calculated and the 3D area of interest is set from the characteristic amount and a border condition being the information relating to a direction and a distance. Thereby the 3D area of interest can be set with high reproducibility.
