PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mode S secondary surveillance radar for appropriately capturing aircrafts (transponders) existing with an area of surveillance, and to make the aircraft fly safely. SOLUTION: The radar is equipped with a transmission control means 131 for transmitting a question, a receiving means 123 for receiving responses transmitted from an ATCRBS aircraft and a mode S aircraft, in response to the question; a correlation processing means 135a for finding correlation, concerning positional information contained in each received response; a classification means 135b for classifying the received responses; a determination means 135c for determining, from the correlation processing and the classification result, whether a received ATCRBS response to the question is a response that has been transmitted from the ATCRBS aircraft; and a generation means 135d for generating a report concerning the state of an aircraft flying in the alert air area, on the basis of the determinated result.
