PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescence element that has attained both improvement in emission luminescence and durability, and to provide a display apparatus which employs this organic electroluminescence element having high emission luminance and long service life. SOLUTION: In an organic electroluminescence element having a light-emitting layer containing a host compound and a phosphorescent compound, the host compound is an organic boric acid compound having a molecular amount of a prescribed structure and a prescribed range.
