PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear capable of preventing generation of noise in an actuator caused by alternating torque transmitted from a control shaft. SOLUTION: In a coupling mechanism 30 provided between the control shaft 19 and a planetary pinion gear 27, an intermediate part 33 is penetrated to an end of the control shaft in the free fitting state, projection parts 34, 34 formed in a two surface width shape in a radial direction of the intermediate part are fitted to guide parts 35, 35 of the planetary pinion gear from an axial direction and are cooperated with them. Further, sliding holes 37, 37 engaged/cooperated with a guide pin 36 fixed to the control shaft from a radial direction are formed at positions approximately perpendicular to the projection part of the intermediate part. Eccentric rotation of the planetary pinion gear is converted to concentric rotation and it is transmitted to the control shaft by free movement in a radial direction of the intermediate part by the slide hole and the guide pin and free movement in a radial direction of the planetary pinion gear by the projection part and the guide part.
