PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape cassette which enables formation of a printing tape of a laminate type while an adhesive tape spool wound with an adhesive tape to be pasted to a character printing surface of the printing tape, and a pasting roller to paste the adhesive tape to the character printing surface of the printing tape are omitted. SOLUTION: In the tape cassette 1 which has both an ink ribbon 19 equipped with a base film 22 with an ink layer 23 applied thereto, and a film tape 17 equipped with a transparent film 25 with an adhesive layer 24 formed on one surface, the adhesive layer 24 of the film tape 17 and the ink layer side 23 of the ink ribbon 19 contact with each other at a printing position. The ink layer 23 is consequently bonded to the adhesive layer 24 on the basis of generation of adhesive properties as the adhesive layer 24 is heated by a thermal head, and characters and the like are printed on the film tape 17. A tape with characters is thus formed. Moreover, in a tape printer 10 equipped with the tape cassette 1, a cutter unit 14 is disposed immediately downstream of the thermal head 7, whereby the printed tape 17 is cut immediately after printing.
