PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical pump including a vertical pump body 10 having a vertically extending rotary shaft 22 and a vertical drive motor 50 coupled onto the pump body 10 through spline connection, capable of suppressing consumption of grease at the spline connection part and effectively preventing secular abrasion due to the grease consumption. SOLUTION: A male spline shaft 22a is provided at an upper end of the rotary shaft 22 of the pump body 10. A cylindrical female spline shaft 51a that is opened downwardly is provided at a lower end of a drive shaft 51 of the motor 50. A tight-fitting annular seal member 80 of elastic material is mounted just below the spline shaft of the rotary shaft 22 in such a manner that the annular seal member 80 is in contact with an end face of the upper female spline shaft 51a.
