PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charnel house which can control a large number of cremains at low cost without using a conveying device and in which the users can offer prayers thereto. SOLUTION: This charnel house comprises a religious service room 2 and a charnel room 3 disposed through a partition wall 4. The religious service room 2 has an altar part 5 with a window part 7 so formed that the inside of the charnel room 3 can be seen through the partition wall 4. The charnel room 3 has a Buddha statue 12 installed at a position from which it can be observed through the window part 7, a spot light for illuminating the Buddha statue during the warship, a shelf 8 on which cremains cases in which cremains are contained are laid to rest, and LED lamps installed at the positions corresponding to the cremains cases 9 laid to rest on the shelf 8 and turned on during the worship.
