PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing bottle cans, by which apparatus and method, a working time allotted for one stroke can be controlled, and productivity can be improved while excellently carrying out the working for the workpieces, and the working for the workpieces can be excellently carried out by stabilizing the workpiece holding position of chuck units. SOLUTION: In the apparatus 10 for manufacturing bottle cans, one or more of die units 30 for supporting a plurality of working tools 4 are moved so as to approach to and separate from chuck units 15 for holding cylindrical workpieces W with a bottom, and the workpieces W arranged between these units are worked. The die units 30 are driven by linear motors 13 so as to linearly reciprocate. A pushing tool 20 is arranged on the side portion of the die unit 30a located at least in the upstream side in the working process so as to push the workpiece W into the chuck unit 15. The pushing tool 20 is arranged on the upstream side than a rotary working tool 4a located in the most upstream side in the working process, and is configured so as to push the workpiece W into the chuck unit 15.
