A method for searching words is provided to reduce input time of the word efficiently by classifying and searching the words according to the number of characters of the desired word. One-character words are searched/displayed according to a frequency of each word when a user inputs more than first character of the word to be inputted and a first numeric or direction key is pressed. Two-character words are searched/displayed according to the frequency of each word when the user inputs more than first character of the word to be inputted and a second numeric or direction key is pressed. Three-character words are searched/displayed according to the frequency of each word when the user inputs more than first character of the word to be inputted and a third numeric or direction key is pressed. Four-character words are searched/displayed according to the frequency of each word when the user inputs more than first character of the word to be inputted and a fourth numeric or direction key is pressed.
