PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dental material which can be cured extremely rapidly by radical polymerization. SOLUTION: The dental material contains at least a polymerizable N,O-functionalized acrylic acid hydroxyamide represented by general formula (I). Use of the amide represented by formula (I) for preparing a material for use as a dental material is also provided. The polymerizable N,O-functionalized acrylic acid hydroxyamide represented by general formula (I) represents monomers of different types and reactivities, which is a mixture with other polymerizable ingredients as needed, and yields a mechanically stable coating or shaped article by copolymerization with heat or by irradiation with visible light, or light in a UV or IR range in the presence of an appropriate radical initiator.
