PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overturn preventing apparatus which prevents overturn of a flat television set against oscillation of earthquake and the like, and requires no tools for adjusting a wire length when installing the apparatus. SOLUTION: The overturn preventing apparatus 1 is constituted of a contact-area fixing part 2; and a cord unit 3 as a connecting material comprising a back-side fixing part 34 serving as one end of a wire 32 and the cord 3 connected to the back side 62 of a flat television set 6, a pedestal fixing part serving as another end of the cord 3 connected to the contact-area fixing part 2, and an engagement part 38 to adjust the extending length of the wire 32 for engagement.
