PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output an image easily by applying correction to a desired image in the same way. SOLUTION: When the image is outputted, a reference image is selected, in advance. For each of the image data to be outputted (output image data) and those (reference image data) of the reference image, the frequency of use of color is detected in a plurality of inspection regions set in a color space. The amount of correction of output image data is determined so that the frequency of use of the output image data obtained for each inspection region is close to that of the reference image data obtained for each inspection region. Then, the output image data are corrected, based on the determined amount of correction to output the image. In this manner, an image can be output by applying correction to a reference image formed by a photographer or an artist so as to have similar impression, thus even a general user can easily output the image corrected as desired.
