PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal gasket capable of preventing the deterioration of a bead for coolant due to the fluctuations in engine internal pressure even in an engine with low engine rigidity. SOLUTION: A shim plate 5 is interposed between two substrates 1, 2, and composed of a shim plate main body part 3 around a combustion chamber hole 7 and of an overhanging part 4 provided only in an intermediate part between bolt holes along the outer periphery of the combustion chamber holes 7 on the outer peripheral side from a coolant area.
