PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel aliphatic polyester-amide excellent in biodegradability and to provide a method for preparing the same. SOLUTION: The biodegradable aliphatic polyester-amide having structures derived from formulae (1) and/or (2) can be obtained by polymerizing 2-pyrrolidone by using an initiator comprising an oligomer A represented by formula (1) (wherein R1and R2are each independently a 2-12C divalent aliphatic group) and/or an oligomer (B) represented by formula (2) (wherein R3is a 1-12C divalent aliphatic group).
