PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chiral agent and the like exhibiting high light resistance against blue laser light, and an optical element using the same. SOLUTION: The chiral agent is represented by general formula (1) (wherein P1and P2are each independently a 10-20C hydrocarbon group which bears one 1,4-cyclohexylene group and may bear an ether oxygen or an ester bond therein and the hydrogen atoms of which may be replaced by a fluorine atom; and one of P1and P2further contains a polymerizable functional group).
