PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a state of damage of shells bitten by Aetobatus flagellum to be monitored, without especially requiring complex device formation. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the bitten damage of the shells includes installing a hydrophone 1 in water, in the sea area in which the Aetobatus flagellum infests and preys on bivalves such as short-necked clam by utilizing a buoy 2; enabling crushing sound caused when the short-necked clam is crushed with the tooth and catched by the hydrophone 1 to be properly treated and sent to a base 5 with wireless; analyzing the sea area of the data sent from each of the hydrophones and the change of the measured value with time; and predicting the region at which the bitten damage of the bivalves, such as the short-necked clam will occur to enable protective measure to be carried out.
