PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoking instrument with an ashtray function, which is used for smoking bulk tobacco such as a cigarette, shredded tobacco, and pipe tobacco. SOLUTION: This smoking instrument comprises: a bottomed cylinder-like tobacco container; a lid which is locked to an opened end of the tobacco container; and a bottomed cylinder-like ashtray into which the bottom of the tobacco container can be slidably fitted. In the smoking instrument, a small hole is formed in the bottom wall of the tobacco container; a small hole squarely facing the small hole of the bottom wall of the tobacco container is formed in the lid in a state in which the lid is locked to the opened end of the tobacco container; a tubular mouthpiece is slidably inserted through the small hole of the lid, and inserted into the tobacco container; and a notch, which is elongated over a predetermined length from the opened end of the ashtray toward its bottom wall, is formed in the peripheral side wall of the ashtray.
