<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that, in a prior art, it is difficult to obtain sufficient stability with respect to the horizontal twist of an air bag since the air bag is constituted so as to vertically erect from its base, and then it is necessary to take such a countermeasure that inner pressure is raised, however, these arrangements may cause the upsizing of a device and an increase in cost, and also may bring difficulty on layout. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag 15 of this air bag device used at the outside of a vehicle is composed of a front base-cloth panel 23 positioned facing the vehicle front in deployment and a rear base-cloth panel 24 positioned facing the vehicle rear, and equipped with a main chamber covering side ends of a pillar 7 and a front wind shield 9, a curving line 22 stretching along the outer edge of the pillar 7, and a sub-chamber 4 coupled with the main chamber 2 through the curving line 22 and extending backward of the vehicle along a side window 17, wherein the portion of the rear base-cloth panel 24 constituting the main chamber 2 is formed shorter in the right-left direction of the vehicle than the front base-cloth panel 23 constituting the main chamber 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
