<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid direct abutting of a knee air bag to an interfering object such as a key accessory, tilt lever, etc. when the knee air bag is inflated and deployed without bringing about an increase in the number of component parts. <P>SOLUTION: Air bag doors 60 including a left side face door 60C and a right side face door 60D with their axes parallel with the column axial direction laid identical to the axial direction of a hinge part 64 are provided at both the sides of a column lower cover 22 of a column cover 18 covering the rear end of a steering column. When the knee air bag 52 is inflated and deployed, the left side face door 60C is interposed between the left side part 52B and the tilt lever 66, while the right side face door 60D is interposed between the right side part 52C and the key accessory 72. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
