<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent material excited with violet to blue light in addition to near ultraviolet ray and emitting green to yellow light, and to provide a solid illumination light source containing the fluorescent material as a light-emitting source and emitting white light having good color rendering performance. <P>SOLUTION: The fluorescent material contains a compound having a basic skeleton of crystal same as Y<SB>2</SB>Si<SB>3</SB>N<SB>6</SB>, and the compound contains Ce<SP>3+</SP>ion as the luminescence center ion. The light source of the invention contains a light-emitting element and a fluorescent material absorbing at least a part of the primary light emitted by the light-emitting element, wherein the primary light emitted from the light-emitting element has an emission peak within a wavelength range of ≥360 nm and <500 nm, the fluorescent material is the material of the present invention, and the fluorescent material absorbs at least a part of the primary light, converts the wavelength and emits a luminescent component having a wavelength longer than that of the primary light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
