PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main rope guide device which guides or moors a main rope for preventing a hindrance at the time of mounting a steel slab for a structure floor, during construction of a steel structure, and to provide a main rope guiding method. SOLUTION: The safety rope guide device (1) has a main rope guide section (10) for guiding the main rope (50), a support portion (2) for supporting the safety rope guide portion, and an engaging section (20) for engaging the support portion with a steel horizontal member. The engaging section is arranged on an upper edge of the support portion, and is engaged with an upper-story steel horizontal member (B2). The support portion is suspended from the engaging section. The safety rope guide section is arranged on a lower edge of the support portion, and suspended from the upper-story steel horizontal member by the support portion and the engaging section.
