PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for coating, exhibiting an iridescent color on the formed coated layer even on heat-treating, and to provide a coated article equipped with a coated layer consisting of such the coating composition. SOLUTION: This coating composition comprises a pigment and a binder, wherein the pigment contains≥60 mass% organic pigment, and the organic pigment is constituted by polymer particles consisting of a polymer composition containing≥2 mass% cross-linkable radical polymerizable monomer, and the polymer particles have 150-5,000 nm number-average particle diameter.
